The Field

Kaleigh's Artist Statement for "The Work Before Us"

At its heart, this series explores the call to equip future generations to go into the field, while recognizing that for many parents, caregivers, and grandparents, the field is already here. It is found in kitchens and gardens, around dinner tables, in the ordinary rhythms of home and family life.

Through images of preparing meals, washing dishes, planting seeds, and gathering across generations, this work reflects the quiet faithfulness of everyday discipleship. It considers the ways we teach, nurture, serve, and love, often without knowing how or when the fruit of those efforts will appear.

These photographs are an invitation to see God’s presence in the ordinary: in the tying of shoes, the tending of gardens, the sharing of meals, and the patient work of raising and discipling others. They portray home as a mission field, a place where seeds of faith are planted, cultivated, and entrusted to God’s growth.
