There was a time in my life when I found myself searching for fulfillment through relationships and struggling with addiction. Beneath those struggles was a deeper longing to be known, loved, and satisfied.

The story of the woman at the well has always struck my heart. Jesus met a woman who had spent her life searching for satisfaction, and He met her exactly where she was at. He knew her completely and told her everything she had ever done. Still, He offered her grace and himself.

The well in this painting represents the things we often turn to in our search for satisfaction. Like the water the woman came to draw, it may quench the thirst for a moment, but eventually we thirst again. The dry and barren desert represents the emptiness that remains when we look to the things of this world to give us what only Jesus can provide.

The flowing streams, the abundant life and flowering plants represent the hope of restoration we find in Jesus. When we allow His living water to flow into the barren places of our lives. What was once dry can become a place of flourishing.

My prayer is that as you the audience look at this painting, you are reminded that Jesus meets us where we are, no matter how barren or broken that place may feel. He offers more than temporary relief. He offers living water, abundant life, restoration, and in Him you are a new creation.
